Fraudulant refereeing at the Polo Grounds

What an awful match, the officiating was just horrible. Who was the person that coined the phrase "Home Field Advantage"? Not on this day, that's for sure. A penalty shot for the visitors in the first 15 minutes of the match. Five yellow cards for the home team, and to top it off, Adrian Lanus received two resulting in a red card. The Madhatters 06 flopped around for pretty much most of the match. All in all, very disapointed. Hope this is the first and last time the Madhatters 06 perform like this. Not to take anything away from Yehud69, they deserved the win the 64% domination does not do them justice, they owned the field on this day. A crowd of 208 showed up to watch the friendly at the Polo Grounds between Yehud69 and the home side. The Madhatters 06 played their usual 3-5-2 formation with creative play as their match tactic. Yehud 69 opted for the 4-4-2 formation with normal tactic. Yehud69 dominated the match with a 64% ball possession. The Madhatters 06 earning yellow cards in todays match were; Robert Giordano for time waisting, Adrian Lanus(2) for two dirty tackles, and Winfred Grasel for rough play. The lone red card was due to Adrian Lanus' two yellows received during todays match. Yehud69 won the match by a score of 5-0. The Yehud69 scorers were, Alexander Mikhalov(2), Joshua MacAngus, Adoram Halpert, and Florian Roed. Veterans make way for young bloods

Young bloods added to the Madhatters 06 squad. The forward Jan Kolnierzak, winger Winfred Grasel and inner midfielder Nikolas Kaltsas. Though lacking in experience, youth and power seem to be what the Madhatters 06 organization is looking for in young talent. Sadly, this means the end of three very popular Madhatters 06 veterans. John Moore who has recently been sold to CITIR SPOR of the Turkish league was still wearing baby shoes when he joined the Hammers semi pro squad, "the pre-cursor to the modern Madhatters 06" as a junior. Also gone are Madhatters 06 ex Captain Jean Charles Beliveau and Samuel Rozon. We wish them all well in their future endeavors…

Past Madhatters 06 Badges

Top badge: Original Madhatters Circa: 1880 Bottom Badge: Used Early 1930's to late 1930's (Also used at start of 2006 season). The only difference in the bottom badge to the original is the "06" added for use this season, not part of original design. (Sadly, can't seem to find the original design).

I've seen worse

An impressive performance by our Madhatters 06 losing only by a score of four-nil to a formidable opponent. Mind you with all the firepower they have they opted to play a defensive formation, nonetheless the outcome was a positive one for the home side. Also, very happy to see an improvement in our counter attack tactic, the team seemed comfortable playing it. The overall match saw a weaker first half with three completions for the Brick, while only one for the second half. Probably one of our better second half's of the season, positive ending to the match. A crowd of only 5750 showed up on an autumn like day to the Polo Grounds to watch their Madhatters 06 host the Brick Athletic. Madhatters 06 played their usual 4-5-1 formation with counter attacking as their match tactic. The Brick opted for a defensive 5-4-1 formation with normal tactic. The Brick held possession for 72% of the match. Yellow cards went to both Pietro Soro and Gary Hamlin of the Brick for rough play, while the Madhatters 06 also saw Smokey Garner booked for rough play. The Brick won the match by a score of 4-0. A very unfriendly friendly

Apart from the pitiful 8-0 thrashing, the Madhatters 06 received a much-needed 14,000 in gate receipts and added three youth players to their starting squad. The forward Jan Kolnierzak, midfielder Nikolas Kaltsas, and winger Winfred Grasel, all three have a great deal of potential and should give the second team a much needed boost. I'm pretty sure that the weather was a small factor in today's onslaught, playing a new tactic under rain conditions, not a good idea, especially creative play. My two biffs for the day are the fact that a good many of the second half of the Madhatters 06 matches seem to be replicas of the first half of their matches? And, regarding players, the two that I'm a little disappointed in at this point are MacRobie (first team) and Lanus (second team) they seem to be static, nothing is happening. Oh well, time to get ready for this weekends league match against Brick Athletic FC, should be a barnburner, (Literally). A crowd of 2048 braved the tough weather today at the Nye Arasen Arena to watch a friendly international between their local Kanaris squad and the Madhatters 06. The Madhatters 06 changed their style a little by playing a 3-5-2 formation with creative play as their match tactic. The Kanaris opted for an offensive match strategy by using a 2-5-3 lineup with normal match tactic. The Kanaris dominated the match with a 76% ball possession. The Madhatters 06 earned a yellow card early in the first half when Robert Giordano charged the ball prior to the referee blowing his whistle. The Kanaris won the match by a score of 8-0. The Kanaris Scorers were, Flip Vik and Trond Remmen each with a hat-trick, Kristian Sundberg and Olav Elstad. Victory at the Polo Grounds!!

Finally a victory at the Polo Grounds! Labeled the battle of the cellar dwellers. It turned out to be a close one. The Rangers managed by an interim manager put up a good fight leveling the score at one midway in the second half, prior to allowing the Madhatters 06 the final goal of the match late in the second. Though, not impressed, after six weeks of matches including exhibitions, I expected more from the squad. However, pleased with the squad's tactical performance of attacking in the middle, it seemed to work well, nonetheless more training is needed. All in all, the Madhatters 06 will savor this short-lived victory, as they face the Brick in next weekend's league match. On this beautiful day a crowd of only 4821 showed up at the Polo Grounds to watch their Madhatters 06 host the Coquitlam Rangers. Madhatters 06 played their usual 4-5-1 formation with attacking in the middle as their match tactic. The Rangers opted for the 3-4-3 formation with normal tactic. The Madhatters 06 held possession for 77% of the match. Yellow cards went to the Madhatters 06 Ivan Sesma for diving, while the Rangers Jeremie Messier and Rafael Cervo were carded respectively for a rough challenge and delay of game. The Madhatters 06 won the match by a score of 2-1. The Madhatters 06 scorers were, Farquar MacRobie and Philippe-Emmanuel Masse, the lone scorer for the Rangers was Rafael Cervo. Better luck next time

Dreaded this match prior to it being played. Once again facing an opponent 3 times stronger than the Madhatteres 06. We ended up losing by a substantial amount, but apart from a few player misunderstandings it did not end as bad as I expected it to. The pressing tactic still needs to be practiced; not yet at the level it should be. 187 true Madahtters 06 supporters toughed it out at the Polo Grounds earlier today to watch an international friendly between their beloved Madhatters 06 and the visiting Herries Blades. The Madhatters 06 played a 3-5-2 formation with pressing as their match tactic, while the Blades played a 3-4-3 formation with normal tactic. The Blades dominated the match with an 80% ball possession. Yellow cards were rewarded to both Bucky jeffries of the Blades and Madhatters 06 Adrian Lanus for nasty challenges. The Blades won the match by a score of 4-0. The scorers were Bucky Jeffries and Bjarne Ellefsen who put three in for a Hat-trick. The Sacred grounds

Many wonderful memories have been written on these grounds, as many more will be.

A little Tophatters history

The original Madhatters were so popular with their fans that at the turn of the century a group of local boys decided to create a club in honor of their Madhatters. In the early days the Tophatters were a private club and accepted amongst their ranks only the stringiest local supporters. Both Madhatters and their beloved fan club lasted a good quarter of a century before becoming defunct prior to World War II. The FC Madhatters 06 and the Tophatters re-established themselves earlier this spring after an anonymous donor infused the newly created FC Madhatters 06 organizing committee with much-needed funds. Original Tophatters fan club circa 1890.

Royal Supra are really super

Tough team to beat probably one of the better squads in the league. Game started off well, pressing seemed to be working, until fatigue set in, and then it was all over. Offensive maintained its usual lackluster performance; central part of squad seemed to be open, letting in the Supra attack for a few completions. Need to build on player stamina and form, players seem to get fatigued early in the second half of play. A crowd of 29163 were present at Estadio Del Trueno to watch the home-side host the fledgling FC Madhatters 06. Madhatters 06 played their usual 4-5-1 formation with pressing as their match tactic. The Supra opted for a 3-5-2 formation with normal match tactic. The Supra dominated the match with an 81% ball possession. Both squads earned yellow cards; Manu Oosterbeek of the Supra received a yellow late in the game for play acting while Madhatters 06 Miquel Angel Puertas was carded early on for a dangerous tackle. The Supra took the match by a decisive score of 6-0. The Madhatters 06 star of the game was Phillippe Emmanuel Masse, who played a decent match. Loss overseas

Traveled abroad for the very first time to play a friendly this week. Perfect timing, as the weather we had was beautiful. Madhatters 06 used a new tactic for their encounter with dismal results. Without a doubt will need more training to be successful in using this tactic. Unimpressed with squad play, should be well adapted by this time. Optimistic about the new and sharp looking team uniforms. Should help team and fan spirit. A crowd of 2130 showed up at the Shed to watch their Tangerine's host the Madhatters 06 in friendly competition. The Madhatters 06 played a 3-5-2 formation and decided to use counter attacking as their match tactic, while the Tangerine's played a 4-4-2 formation with normal tactic. The Tangerine's dominated the match with a 73% ball possession. Two yellows for Alejo Obregon one for time wasting and the other for handball, leading to a match suspension, the other Tangerine yellow went to Stewart Patrick for a viscous tackle. The Tangerine's won the match by a score of 6-0. The scorers were, Peter Gulling(2), Aleksi Sandström(2), Mathieu Bilger(2). Ouch!

By looking at the outcome it would not be hard to guess that we played one of the better teams in our league, if not best, earlier today. There isn't a strategy in the world we could have used that would have made this match a competitive one. At the moment it's just not possible, the lack of talent the Madhatters 06 have with the abundance in talent Japan4 have, no chance. Oh well, there's always next week. A crowd of 4616 braved the miserable weather at the Polo Grounds to watch the onslaught by Japan4. Madhatters 06 played their usual 4-5-1 formation with attacking on the wings as their tactic. Japan4 opted for the 3-5-2 formation with normal tactic. Japan4 held the ball for the better part of the match, 87% to be exact. One yellow card was awarded to Madhatters 06 Miquel Angel Puertas for holding while Ben Browne of Japan4 earned himself a red card for delay of game and a handball. Japan4 won the match by a score of 8-0.
