The HC Madhatters 06 aimed to please with one of their best finishes. It took the final match of the season to decide the first three positions. The series championship was up for grabs as the two top teams tied with 34 points each faced one another. A very close match that saw the TNN de Montreal squeeze by Boich United 2-1. The other important match pitched the HC Madhatters 06 Vs the Twin Devils; the Madhatters were victorious sending six past the Devils keeper, allowing them to edge by Boich United and claim the second spot in their series. The only set back was a minor shin injury to the Madhatters central defender Goodemote who'll be on the sidelines for at least a week. Next on the to do list, preparation for the national Cup.
Five matches in total have been played between these two clubs with the sixth one on its way this Sunday afternoon at the Rock On Stadium. A total of thirty-one goals have been scored so far, sixteen for the Madhatters 06 and fifteen for the TNN de Montreal. The first two matches went to the Madhatters 06 6-0 and 6-1 respectively. However, with some major tweaking to their clubs lineup, TNN de Montreal were set, winning the next three by scores of 6-2, 5-0 and 3-2. For fans this Sundays match means a chance for the Madhatters 06 to redeem themselves against their series rival. Fact, a great deal more is at stake for both clubs, as the winner will most likely break out of the three-team deadlock for first. The winning club will most probably step into second while the losing club will earn 3rd spot. All this notwithstanding an even score at the Rock On Stadium and Boich United coming out of their affair with a loss or tie. Should be an awesome evening.

The Soot Dons have become a part of Madhatters 06 history. A century and a half of chimney sweeping has come to an end. Renowned to younger Madhatters 06 fans as their clubs original and at one time only "pseudo" sponsor. Modern chimney building techniques along with contemporary means in maintaining chimneys has made making a profit difficult. As one elder Top Hatter was quoted as saying, "What wonderful memories, the clubs history is intertwined with the Soot Dons". Sadly, the Soot Don's in the end no longer sponsored the Madhatters 06; however, they'll always have a special place in the hearts of the Top Hatter's senior members.
A four week run as series leaders came to an abrupt end this past Sunday at the Sacred Grounds, as the Madhatters 06 lost by a score of 3-2 in front of 35000 to the third place TNN de montreal. Technically the Madhatters 06 are still atop, tied in first with both Boich United and the TNN de montreal, each having twelve points. However the difference lies in the goals average with Boich United at +17 followed by the Madhatters 06 with a GA of +13, one more than the TNN de montreal who have 12. Though, the home side dominated the match with 59% ball possession, TNN de montreal dominated the scoreline; never looking back after taking a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute of the first half.
Gordon Goodemote is one of the original sixteen players selected by Coach Ronald Brough at the Madhatter 06 tryouts held prior to the Cook St. Hornets implementing their youth academy.
His natural footballing abilities were evident right from the start. Playing as wingback he helped the Hornets win their first ever match 3-0 at the Stadion dvorista. Match after match Goodemote continued to impress everyone with his talents up until a cold night at der rasselbande spielwiese arena where what seemed to be a career ending injury sidelined him for over a month. Contrary to what the pundits' expectations were about his future in football, Gordon's return to the game was sooner than expected. The match at the Nissan International Stadium against the Sidewinders was proof enough; a spirit lifting 90 minutes of play by Gordon reassured teammates and Hornets staff alike that he was back in full force.
His convincing style of play caught the eye of Madhatter 06 scout Felix Beaudet and on December 15 2007, Goodemote was asked to suit up for that weeks upcoming senior squad friendly against X@R()$ (Must be a coded name). After a stellar performance Goodemote continued to dazzle and ended the final leg of the season in stride. This Sunday's match against the Twin Devils will be his first of what should be a successful full season.
