Season five in review

With 10 wins, 1 draw, 3 loses totaling 31 points and a plus 46 goals-for/goals-against average, season five has been; apart from a 7 goal deficit compared to the previous season...The most successful season the HC Madhatters 06 have had, so far. Aiding in this task were winger Craig O'Connel and midfielder Umut Sultan who each shared 7 man of the match awards. Midfielders Ivan Sesma and Urban Trankl both received the most goals scored award this season with 8 goals each in league/cup and friendly competitions. As per clean sheets keeper Per-Henrik Magnusson received 9 shutouts. The fans also did their part by breaking their old home crowd record of 27,260 with 33,043 on their final home match of the season against the Montreal Tanners.

Kudos to everyone, all that’s needed for the upcoming season is to tear off the third place label and move up the rankings.

Possible positive end to the season

Madhatters 06 are three matches away from reaching a new milestone in their clubs history. However, three teams stand in their way the Ironkids, Tanners and on the final match day, their toughest opponent of the three, the Twin Devils, who may possibly play the role of spoiler. Although, Madhatter 06 fans have witnessed 4 consecutive victories on a number of occasions the big number "5" has eluded them for the past five and a half seasons. "What a way it would be end the season with five consecutive victories", says a fan who has followed the squad through thick and thin, since the beginning. Madhatter 06 coach Kermantas Davjadas was also quoted as saying that "It would be a nice achievement, the guys certainly deserve it. Though, this is in no doubt a very small feat in comparison to our ultimate goal in winning the league title. All in all, it's important that they don't get too overconfident and remember to remain focused on the big picture." More importantly is the fact that the Madhatters 06 at league level seem to be improving after each season, which in turn has everyone associated very optimistic.

Fans finally get what they’ve been asking for

New majority owners haven’t held anything back, after giving the old Polo Grounds a much needed face-lift they upped the ante by showing a gesture of kindness to the Madhatter fans and agreeing to change the name of their sports complex to the 'Sacred Grounds'. Theo Hammer VI seemed pleased with the change saying "The new owners have their heart in the right place. This is something the fans have been asking for since the start of it all." He also stated that he was saddened that early on he wasn’t in a position to push for such a change. Further, in a statement released earlier by the spokesperson for the Sacred Grounds Project Committee, it read "It is in everyone’s interest that the name of a sports complex should reflect the club and what it stands for along with the pride that their fans have for it. And we believe that in changing its name to the 'Sacred Grounds' we have accomplished this". Best of luck to our HC Madhatters 06 this upcoming Sunday as they play their first match of the season.

Most dressed Madhatter taking a step back...

The most dressed player in madhatters-06 history is going into semi retirement. Goalkeeper Jean-Guy Larouche will become Per-Henrik Magnusson and Ernesto Astilla’s backup keeper. The change will see Per as their guy for league matches and Ernesto as the obvious choice for cup matches. At the age of twenty-nine Jean-Guy was reminiscent in saying that he had more to look back on than to look forward to regarding football. "I’ve enjoyed every minute of the 62 or so matches that I’ve played for this club. I also consider myself very fortunate to have played for such a classy organization. I can’t thank Mr. Hammer enough for the graciousness he’s shown towards my family and me. Furthermore, I’m very happy to still be a part of this organization and intend to enjoy my new career as the backup keeper. Thanks to everyone."
The young Swede Per whose career has seen him play for clubs the likes of Sparkaboll IF of Sweden, Real United City of Oceania and Arroganzia Diede of Germany, prior to joining the Madhatters 06. Only 22, Per is a very sympathetic guy and has a great deal of goal-keeping skill which should fit in nicely with coach Davjadas style of play.
